By Car
The drive from Auckland, Hamilton or Tauranga to Coromandel is 2.5 hours, the last hour of your trip is on the beautiful Thames coast road, to Coromandel Town itself.
By Boat
By far the best way to get to Coro from Auckland. 2 hours by sea, complete with birds, salt spray and the occasional pod of dolphins.

Getting Around Coro
Car Bus
If you are driving yourself around, keep in mind that that the
roads are winding, there are plenty of hills and most of the
northern roads are gravel. Take it easy, and appreciate
glorious seascapes, wide open valleys, and great adventuring
in this spectacular land.

Foot / Bike
If you are an avid walker or cyclist you can easily visit the
central artists on foot/bike, it is approximately 3.5 km (about
40 minutes walk) from town to the Driving Creek area, where
the most northern of the central artists are situated. Bikes
can be hired from Tidewater tourist Park, ph. (07) 866 8888.
So set your watch to coromandel time, relax, and enjoy your art adventure on the creative and beautiful Coromandel.
