Daniel screen prints onto naturally rough materials like sawn up old beehive boxes or beautifully weathered planks and boards of old buildings. He juxtaposes clear, fresh images with the lively roughness and beauty of a ‘wear-and-tear’ patina only achievable by time and the elements. The works are very direct yet sophisitcated. Each piece has an individual story to tell. With his work the artist expresses and shares his love and respect for the beauty and dignity of the Coromandel Peninsula. Daniel is also known for his refreshingly loose brush drawings.
