Nici Greulich
i am German originally, but have been living in New Zealand for twenty years. My interest in weaving with flax became apparent when I learned to make my first item with my friend, who has famous weaver relatives. A few years later I was convinced to attend a course, a traditional marae programme in Paeroa. Involving weaving an amazing number of different designs and patterns. This experience gave me an intense insight into Maori culture, history, present, waiata and the seemingly endless skills to create useful and deeply meaningful basket designs. After two years on this programme aquired an Advanced Certificate in Raranga.
The passion that this experience inflamed in me has been part of my life since. I love the challenge of new projects. I have started giving workshops, I find them really interesting and successful.
