Annette Bishop
Annette Bishop commenced painting on porcelain and bone china in 1981, but also paints with acrylics and pastels. Coromandel area with its beautiful scenery has always been a favourite subject and four years ago Annette came from Taupo to live in Coromandel.
Annette grew up in a farming family in South Wairarapa, trained as a Nurse in Palmerston North, then married and moved to Taupo where her three daughters were born.
Artistic talent runs in the family. Annette’s mother painted in oils and her both her great and great great grandmother were porcelain artists, oil painters and wood carvers. Her daughters have also followed in her footsteps and paint with acrylic and mixed media.
Annette began porcelain painting in 1981 after attending an exhibition by Joan Thomson and since has enjoyed painting in acrylic and pastel drawings. She has been a Merit Award winner with the Bay of Plenty Porcelain Art Society and a finalist with the Taupo Society of Arts on a number of occasions. Annette qualified as a teacher with APAT in 2000 and took out the prized "Supreme Award" at the Taupo Society of Arts in 2003.
